The 2024-25 high school basketball season has come to a close in Louisiana, and it was another iconic year for teams in Lafayette Parish and its surrounding areas.
Only three area teams across boys and girls basketball got a shot at competing in the LHSAA Boys and Girls Marsh Madness and only one team got to taste sweet, sweet victory in the state championship game. Lafayette Christian Academy girls basketball was the lone state championship from this season, winning the Select Division III title, their fifth state championship in a row.
St. Thomas More boys basketball and JS Clark Leadership Academy girls basketball were the other two teams to make a Marsh Madness appearance. The Bulldogs ended their season in the Select Division IV semifinals while the Cougars fell short in the Select Division I state championship to St. Augustine. In total, 51 area teams made the playoffs and along the way, star players arose.
With the 2024-25 high school basketball season officially over, the Daily Advertiser sports staff has compiled an All-Metro first and second teams, as well as MVPs featuring the best boys and girls hoopers from the 337.
Boys
MVP: Kevon’te Landry, Lafayette, guard/forward
Summary: Mr. Do it all this season for Lafayette was Landry. It didn’t matter who the opponent was, Landry went into every game knowing his role, ready and willing to put the Mighty Lions on his back. The 6-foot-4 and 200-pound combo guard finished the season averaging 20 points, nine rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.5 steals, and close to two blocks per game for his team.
